A NORTH Yorkshire businessman has re-launched a Wensleydale holiday park following a £100,000 investment.

Bedale based Jack Reynard acquired Burtree Lakes, Crakehall, in October last year. He has spent the last six months upgrading the infrastructure and adding holiday homes and lodges for sale to the existing touring caravan park.

Future plans include the renovation of existing farm buildings to provide holiday cottage accommodation, an on site spa and café.

Only four acres of the 28 acre site is currently under development – the rest is unspoilt woodland and countryside which holiday home owners and touring visitors have exclusive and almost unrestricted access to.

The site also has two large natural lakes. One is a wildlife and wildfowl haven and the other a well stocked coarse fishery for the use of holiday home owners and guests.

Burtree Lakes has achieved a David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation every year since 2012 and money has also been spent on important conservation measures.

For Mr Reynard, 27, Burtree Lakes is the first acquisition in what he plans will become a portfolio of holiday parks across the UK.

He said: "I was attracted to Burtree Lakes as my first investment because its tranquil lakeside location offers something truly unique in the area.

"There has never been a better time to invest in a holiday home in the UK as many owners can now access pension funds and enjoy the benefits. The cost of borrowing makes a holiday home highly affordable and owners can also buy with confidence knowing their investment is safe".
