A MAN in a car performed an obscene act in front of a schoolgirl at the weekend.
It is believed the girl was walking with a friend near Whitby Way shops in Darlington during the morning of Saturday, July 26 when the incident took place.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary, who are investigating the incident, said: “The passenger window was open and as the young girl went past she saw the man carrying out an indecent act.
“There is no suggestion the girl was called over to the car, the man never spoke to her.”
The man is described as being around 40, of white or mixed-race appearance with collar-length dark hair and wearing square-framed glasses.
His vehicle was new-looking, and black with five doors.
The police spokesman added: “We are studying any available CCTV from the area in the hope we can identify the car but if anyone recognises the car or the man from the descriptions given they are asked to contact the police on 101.”
