A TRIO of local food lovers will be passing on the tips of their trades with a series of tasty workshops at Saltburn Food Festival.

Saltburn butcher Mike Gosnay will be helping people make their own sausages, Brotton based artisan baker Ed Trewhitt will be showing people how to put their own bread on the table, while Guisborough couple Andy Lennox and Andrea Havard will be introducing festival goers to the benefits of an organic raw food lifestyle.

The butcher said: “The food festival is absolutely fantastic for the town. Last year was an amazing day, and we’re really pleased to be part of it again.

“The workshop will be great fun. It covers the basic butchery skills, from choosing the right cuts of meat, right up to people making their own sausages to take away and enjoy.”

Former Ritz chef Ed Trewhitt has put his skills to good use by setting up the brand new artisan Brickyard Bakery.

He said: “The food festival is an incredible day. Just like the monthly Farmers’ Markets, they are full of people with a passion for real food, so I’m really pleased to be involved on the day itself.”

Festival goers can also find out more about a healthy organic lifestyle, with Andy Lennox and Andrea Havard from Infinite Glow hosting an hour-long introduction to organic raw food.

She said: “From our experience over the past 15 years, including more organic, raw living foods into our diets has made us feel more energised and alive. Many diets today include a lot of highly processed unnatural ingredients, which often have an adverse effect on people’s health.”

The free food festival takes place on Sunday, August 3 between 10am to 4pm on Milton Street.
