ONE of the largest one-day events in the Dales social calendar took place for the 101st time.
This year, the weather was kind once again, with more than 6,000 visitors enjoying a day out in mostly sunshine.
It is largely volunteers who run the show. They spend their day ensuring the various sections of sheep, cattle, horses, or horticulture run smoothly, making the show a complete success throughout.
Throughout the day one of the more pleasant tasks of the joint show, presidents Anne and Stuart Guy are meeting and greeting more than 200 members and show sponsors without whom financing the show would be difficult.
When all the trophies and prizes are awarded and the day’s entertainment is finished the organisers get together for a drink.
Many return the following morning to dismantle the showground, then planning starts for next year.
