A MAN was walking around Darlington town centre in ripped trousers and a G-string “exposing his genitals”, a court has heard.

Graham Ellis Stephenson, 50, was spotted in Darlington at about 3.35pm on August 8 last year. He was seen by two people as they were leaving the car park in Commercial Street.

Stephenson, of Grange Avenue, Hurworth Place, Darlington, pleaded guilty to exposing his genitals when he appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court.

Sarah Traynor, prosecuting, said: “In his police interview he made a comment that it gave him a bit of a thrill.”

She added that he was wearing an old pair of work trousers which were ripped and a black G-string, which had led to the exposure.

Dominic Tate, mitigating, said: “It was very much out of character and not something he has done in the past.

“He wasn’t intending to expose himself but was aware the clothes he was wearing put him at risk of exposing himself.

“He is extremely remorseful and has no intention of appearing before this court again.”

Stephenson was fined and given court costs to pay totalling £1,398.
