PC Polly proved popular at a police exhibition last weekend.

The creation of a Darlington author has been introduced to youngsters as part of the North East Police History Society’s recent exhibition.

Children’s author Carol Dean was approached by the NEPHS to write stories about a fictional police officer ahead of the event, staged at Beamish museum.

She said: “It was a huge compliment to be asked to write the PC Polly stories for the NEPHS and I was honoured to be part of their exhibition.

“PC Polly proved to be a popular lady and the NEPHS are a fantastic group of people who work hard to ensure the history of the police and fire service is saved for everyone to learn from and enjoy.

“Without the group, that history could be lost forever, which is unthinkable.”

The NEPHS will return to Beamish on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17.
