A North Yorkshire swimmer achieved a new world record at the National Summer Games.
Harvey Stonebank, 18, from Richmond was competing in the games in Sheffield when he achieved the feat in the 200IM, 17 to 24 age group seniors, mosaic down syndrome category, long course.
A spokesperson for Richmond Dales Swimming Club said: "Although this was no easy feat, the achievement is perhaps somewhat unsurprising as Harvey already holds many world and European records.
"The future also continues to look bright for the accomplished swimmer as he continues to practice and set himself new goals to achieve.
"He is supported by his club, The Richmond Dales Swimming Club, where Harvey trains for a minimum of four times a week. As a swimmer with mosaic down syndrome, Harvey competes in both specialised and mainstream events and has recently achieved qualifying times in his races.
"Harvey has recently been selected to represent the Great British Down Syndrome Team at the World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships in Turkey in March 2024.
"We are all extremely proud of Harvey's commitment to his sport and eagerly await to celebrate his future successes with him."
