A deaf 19-year-old golfer from Darlington is hoping to play for England in a tournament in Australia.

Aiden Silman was born deaf after arriving 14 weeks early in 2004.

He took up golf at the age of six and he has worked hard over the last 13 years to become the best player he can be.

He has competed in lots of junior tournaments and he now plays for the senior Darlington men's team.

The 19-year-old has always dreamed of playing for England and he has a massive opportunity but he will need some help from the community to fund it.

He said: "A big dream of mine is to represent my country and this year my hard work has paid off.

"I have been chosen to represent England at the Gold Coast golf club in Queensland Australia in the world deaf championships.

"This is a massive opportunity for me to represent England and a dream come true.

"Unfortunately, the golfing association is not able to fund this tournament, so I need to fund it myself.

"I am reaching out to family, friends and businesses asking if anyone can help me reach my target of £3,500 to help pay flights, accommodation and fees.

"Any kind of support, no matter how big or small will help me achieve my fundraising target."

Aiden also appealed to businesses to help in any way they can through sponsorships, donations or raffles.
