England have made it through to the semi-final stage of the FIFA Women's World Cup after a 2-1 win over Colombia. 

The Lionesses had to come from behind on Saturday (August 12) after going 1-0 down in the first half at Stadium Australia in Sydney. 

A goal from Lauren Hemp brought the England side level in extra time just before half-time before Alessia Russo put her side in front in the 63rd minute. 

Despite numerous opportunities for both sides, the score remained the same and the Lionesses ran out 2-1 winners to advance to the semi-finals of the World Cup. 

Who will England play in the semi-final?

The Lionesses will now face Australia in the semi-final of the FIFA Women's World Cup after the hosts won the earlier match on Saturday against France. 

Australia won 7-6 on penalties after they finished all square at nil all with France after both normal and extra time.

When is the Lionesses' next game against Australia?

England will face off against World Cup hosts Australia in the semi-final on Wednesday, August 16.

The Lionesses will still be without star player Lauren James, who will serve the second game of her two-match ban for stepping on an opponent in England's win over Nigeria on Monday (August 7).

England will take on Australia at 11am on Wednesday, August 16 (UK time) in their semi-final match. 

The winner of that match will face earn a place in the FIFA Women's World Cup final against either Spain or Sweden.
