Thirsk Men’s second team travelled to Bradford to play a rearranged game, and it was their first game since November, due to postponements.

Thirsk had the better of the early exchanges as Bradford struggled to cope with the pace of Thirsk’s passing game. It was from a fast attack down the right that Thirsk opened the scoring, Tom Westgate latching on to Otis William’s pass, and his cross making it to Dave Pickford at the back post to fire home.

Thirsk were back in the grove, the next goal came from a fine penalty corner strike from Harry Goodall. The third was started by a breakout from defence by Jon Statham, and he threaded it through to Tom who picked out Arthur Hunt to score. A lapse in defence, allowed a speculative cross in from the right from Bradford, Luke Brownlee parried the ball away, but it was unfortunate to collide into the one Bradford attacker close by, and he lifted the into the goal.

Thirsk though replied almost immediately Tom and Harry combining, and Tom slotting home. Arthur also got another before half time with an attack down the left, with Sam Bosomworth, supplying Arthur, who beat a defender before firing home. The second half was tougher, with Bradford adding a player from a higher team up front.

Thirsk had to work harder defensively. Thirsk carried on creating good passing movements, and this time it was Arthur who turned provider following a pass from Josh Dale, Arthur’s cross picked out Sam, and he unselfishly laid the ball to Trevor Bosomworth to lash into the goal. The final goal soon followed, with Arthur Hunt taking his tally for the season to 21 with another confident finish. The final score of 7-1, takes Thirsk back to the top of the league table.
