JONATHAN Richardson won last weekend's Reeth Three-Day Trial, organised by Richmond Motor Club, from Richard Sadler and Andy Chilton.

Phil Houghton, from North Wales, Roger Williams and Philip Alderson headed the green course class at the Grinton venue, while the clubman class went to 57-year-old Skeeby trialler Allan Richardson from Andy Longden and Anthony Stephen.

The Richardson family created a record when seven family members competed. Allan, Leslie and Stephen competed with their daughters and nieces and nephews Jonathan, Chloe, Hannah and Niamh. The only one missing was Scott Trial winner Gerald, who was probably the team mechanic.

A field of 250 competitors rode the 90-section three-day event.

GUISBOROUGH and District Motor Club staged their final summer series trial at their Commondale venue last Saturday night.

Glorious weather and the three-lap, 10-section course plotted by Andy Metcalfe and helpers ensured a good trial. The drop and hill climb at the first, where Mia McGee observed, saw Tom Smith, Paul Sedman, Dan Gamble and Ron Chapman all lose marks.

Intermediate winner Jonathon Frost edged it on just three marks lost as runner-up Sam Haywood lost a five-second lap.

The trial also proved special as it marked the welcome return to the trials scene of Fryup's Nikita Smith. She won clubman B on one mark lost and said: “I felt a little nervy, but soon settled and have really enjoyed the night.”

While on the subject of youth, George McGee's conducted goes from strength to strength, Harrison Skelton taking the hard route win and Jack Firth the easier route.

ROUND six of the Stanley Trials Club's Wednesday evening series went off at Butsfield Quarry last week when 39 riders turned out at the County Durham venue, with 23 going for the clubman route. Three of them, Matty Ball, Jason Scott and Colin Ward, went clean throughout the evening.

Kevin Edmundson headed home Richard Hawes, claiming fourth spot after they had both dropped two marks, the tie decider sorting that one out.

Chris Church hung on until section eight before parting with his only mark on the easy course, but this put him two clear of Peter Booth, who had dropped two marks in section three plus another in the fourth. Eric Brunskill took third place on four, just ahead of John Sowerby on five.

SOUTH Shields and District Motor Club headed for the Wear Valley last weekend for their club supporters' trial.

Held at Shield Close, overlooking the village of Westgate, it attracted a healthy entry of more than 60 riders.

Michael Phillipson took the honours on the expert route with a total of 15, 12 of which went in section five, where the waterfall took him for two fives and a two before he mastered it on his last lap for the only clean of the day there.

Rob Waite and Russ Rooksby headed the competition and, but for a couple of errant marks and a disastrous five in the last section for Waite, the outcome might have been different after he finished just seven marks adrift of the winner.

GLORIOUS weather and a great entry graced Hull AC's Ryedale Burner Trophy Trial at Piethorn Farm, Helmsley, last Sunday and clerk of course Mark Williamson and family got the severity spot on for all classes, Sherco rider Michael Todd romping home ahead of Kirkbymoorside's Mark Harrison.

Experience came to the fore in clubman A as Alan Williams scraped the win from Darren Johnson by two marks.

It proved even tighter in the clubman B class between John Gaskin and Dave Wilkinson, Gaskin holding on to win by one mark, with Chris Banks, Steve Jaques, Paul Pulman and Shaun Page all on four marks lost, Banks losing all his on section four.

Colin Bailey won the twin shock class on the big Ariel.
